abaculi (singular abaculus)

At the blog's 2010 inception, I was looking for a word or phrase to describe a collection of ephemera and visual fragments.

Abaculus
(Latin, diminutive of abacus) is a small tile of glass, marble, or other substance, of various colors, used in making ornamental patterns in mosaic pavements.

With this as one of several working concepts, I found nothing more pleasing and chose the plural form Abaculi to title the blog.
